How Long to Beat In Falsus? Main Story Hours & HLTB Data

HowLongToBeat puts the In Falsus main story at 28.5 hours (2 submissions, Sep 18, 2026). What that number really tells you, and why some sites say 4.5 hours.

The short answer

In Falsus takes around 28.5 hours to clear the main story, according to HowLongToBeat — currently the only third-party source with real, submitted playthrough times for the game. The figure is the median of just 2 player submissions, checked on September 18, 2026, so read it as an early but genuine datapoint, not a settled consensus.

Run typeTimeWhere it comes from
Main story (median)28½ hoursHLTB, 2 submissions (Sep 18, 2026)

Main + extrasNo data yetNo HLTB rating submitted

Practical read: if you follow the story and clear charts as they come, plan for the 25–30 hour band — that is HLTB's own rushed-to-leisure spread, not our invention. Side content, unlocks and post-game grind push the total well past that, and a completion-style run has no measured number at all yet.

There is no official playtime figure

lowiro has never published any kind of playtime estimate for In Falsus — not on the Steam page, not in launch materials, nowhere. That is normal for rhythm games, but it is why the question "how long is In Falsus?" has been answered mostly with guesswork since the game launched on September 9, 2026.

What we do know from official sources shapes the answer:

  • The full game costs $39.99 on Steam and ships with 70+ songs across four difficulty tiers (MIN, EVO, ULT, FBD).
  • The story runs across a Prologue and multiple acts, and update 1.0.2c added Arc 4, "The Hand of Calamity," after launch — the content target is still moving, so any playtime figure is a snapshot of a specific version.
  • Progression systems (song unlocks tied to story progress, card crafting, Mastery) mean the "main story" number and the "everything" number are very different sizes.

How to read the HowLongToBeat number (n = 2)

Here is everything HowLongToBeat currently shows for In Falsus, as of September 18, 2026:

  • Main Story: 28½ hours — median of 2 submissions
  • Rushed: 25h 15m / Leisure: 31h 45m — the two runs bracketed each other fairly tightly
  • Fastest 22h, slowest 35h — the raw endpoints
  • Main + Extras and Completionist: no data — nobody has submitted those categories yet
  • Activity: 2 playing, 3 backlogs

Three things to keep in mind before quoting 28.5 hours as gospel:

  1. Two submissions is a tiny sample. One outlier — a player who reads slowly, or one who never loses to a chart — moves the median a lot. Expect the number to drift as submissions accumulate, and check the live page for the current figure.
  2. The 28.5-hour size is plausible, and here is our reasoning — not a measured breakdown. The story is reading-heavy: even in third-party footage, story scenes dominate the runtime between songs, and story progress gates song unlocks, so you cannot skip the charts either. Dozens of charts at a few minutes each, plus retries on the harder ones, plus dialogue, stacks up to tens of hours naturally.
  3. It will change. With Arc 4 arriving post-launch and more players finishing the game every day, today's 28.5 hours is a data point in time — we will update this page as the sample grows.

Why do some sources say 4.5 hours?

You may have seen a much smaller number, like "around 4.5 hours for the main story." Here is exactly where that comes from, because the source is honest about it.

A September 12 article on another In Falsus site built its estimate on a two-part, no-commentary YouTube playthrough by the channel Spectral — 4h 23m of footage across both parts, recorded on the launch build. The article states two caveats itself: that run does not reach the end of the story, and the figure is "a floor, not a complete count." It was also published before HowLongToBeat had any In Falsus data at all.

So the fair summary is: ~4.5 hours is roughly how long it takes to watch the story-heavy opening stretch at zero-commentary pace — not to beat the game. It is a useful lower bound for how story-packed the game is, but as a "how long to beat" answer it undersells the game by a factor of five or more, and the real submitted data now exists to say so.

What moves your personal count up or down

How fast you read

The single biggest variable. In Falsus interleaves long story scenes with its rhythm encounters, and the scenes dominate the clock. If you read at a relaxed pace (or revisit earlier scenes to piece the plot together), add hours; if you mash through and fill in the story later, subtract them.

Which difficulty tier you live on

MIN, EVO, ULT, FBD — the four tiers change how much time the charts themselves cost. Staying on lower tiers keeps the story moving; pushing ULT and FBD charts near your limit means retries, and retries mean hours. Our difficulty and scoring system guide breaks down what each tier expects from you.

Unlock gates and progression

Song unlocks are tied to story progress, so the playlist grows as you go — our song unlock guide maps the requirements. Early-game pacing questions (what to prioritize, when a chapter gates you) are covered in the Act 1 walkthrough.

Post-game grind: Remembrance, crafting, achievements

After the credits, the count climbs for anyone chasing full progress: repeatable Remembrance encounters, card crafting and Mastery upgrades, and the Steam achievement list. None of this touches the main story number, but it defines the completionist one — see the card crafting guide and the achievement list for the scale of it.

Score chasing

If "beating" a chart for you means EX+ rather than a clear, multiply the chart time accordingly. The score calculator tells you how tight your NEAR budget is on any given run.

Frequently asked questions

Is In Falsus a short game?

No — not by rhythm game standards. The main story median sits at 28.5 hours (HLTB, 2 submissions as of September 18, 2026) with submitted runs spanning 22–35 hours, which is several times the length of a typical rhythm game "campaign." The small ~4.5-hour figure floating around comes from a partial YouTube playthrough, not a clear.

How long is each act?

There is no official per-act data. HowLongToBeat tracks a single main story category, and no data site has published act-by-act splits. We would rather tell you "unknown" than invent a table of act lengths.

Does 100% take much longer than the main story?

Almost certainly yes — but treat this as our assessment, not data. No Main + Extras or Completionist time has been submitted to HLTB yet. Between Remembrance repeat runs, card crafting and Mastery, the 70+ song list, and the achievements, a full run should land well beyond 28.5 hours; 60+ hours is our ballpark estimate, not a measured figure.

Are these numbers final?

No. HLTB numbers update with every submission, and the game itself is still growing — update 1.0.2c added Arc 4 after launch. Expect this page to need updates, and check the live HowLongToBeat entry for the current median.

Plan your run

Whether the main story takes you 22 hours or 35, the same toolkit makes those hours cheaper: the Act 1 walkthrough for early story gates, the song unlock guide so nothing surprises you, and the score calculator once clearing turns into scoring. Enjoy the ride — by every datapoint so far, In Falsus gives you a full game's worth of hours, not a demo's worth.
