Guide · Songs & Difficulty Unlocks

Every unlock in In Falsus, step by step

In Falsus starts you small: nine songs, one playable girl and every difficulty above EVO locked. This walkthrough follows the game’s own notices — captured on the launch-day stream — from first boot to FORBIDDEN charts, character timelines and the Remembrance replay loop.

First boot: what you can play right now

  1. 1

Choose how you want to start

Before the tutorial, In Falsus asks whether you want to prioritize the Scenario or experience the full challenge of the Rhythm Game. The game states it plainly: this option only affects the initial Rhythm Game tutorial and does not limit your game experience — unlocks arrive on the same schedule either way.

  2. 2

    Count your starting songs: nine

The starting song select holds nine tracks — à la mode, Be There, Cryogenic, Cyaegha, Forbidden Souls, Ghost Ray, Hyaloüyne, MIRINAE and Ordirehv. The counter in the corner reads “Unlocked in Scenario 0/9”, and that line is the whole system in miniature: everything else on the list arrives through the story.

Story unlocks: songs come from the scenario

  1. 3

The Scenario Timeline is the key to the rest

The hub’s SCENARIO entry leads to the story, and the story is what hands out songs, characters and crafting. If a track on your list is dark, the answer is almost always “keep reading” — the game gates its rewards behind Timeline entries rather than play counts.

  2. 4

Dives are where songs come from

At key story beats the POV character dives into someone else’s heart — the scene dissolves into a shattered mindscape and becomes a playable encounter. Act 1’s first dive, into the detective’s heart, spawns the story’s first brand-new chart.

  3. 5

Clear the encounter, keep the song

Survive the encounter and its song joins your list permanently. The first dive awards ZFC by Cybermiso — the results screen shows the grade, the DIVE CLEARED stamp and an Encounter Result payout of Iota. Later dives add New Vision, WonderRoom 2.0 and Memories in Noise the same way.

    Read entries to unlock entries

The Timeline for The First Lie lays its scenes out per character on dated tiles — and some tiles are locked behind “access requirements” that ask you to read other entries first. Reading order matters: finishing one girl’s scene can be what unlocks the next scene on someone else’s row.

Difficulty gates: MIN → EVO → ULT → FORBIDDEN

  1. 7

The difficulty ladder and its locks

Every song carries four difficulty tabs: MIN, EVO, ULT and FORBIDDEN. On the starting roster only MIN and EVO are playable — ULT and FORBIDDEN sit behind lock icons until your mastery across the list earns them. Levels climb per tab, so an EVO 4 today is a stepping stone, not a ceiling.

  2. 8

Mastery across songs opens the next tier

The gate notice spells out the rule: “The knowledge of FORBIDDEN difficulty eludes you.” Improve your mastery across multiple charts — playing one song on repeat does nothing. Spread your clears across the roster and the next tier announces itself with a “New Difficulty Unlocked” toast.

  3. 9

Clears pay out — and FORBIDDEN arrives

Keep clearing across the roster and the top tier shows up: FORBIDDEN, the six-key charts that sit above ULT — the same tier hosting the launch roster’s hardest entries. Your first FORBIDDEN charts appear at low numbers, and clearing those across songs is what opens the higher levels like the à la mode FBD 11.

Remembrance & your roster

  1. 10

Remembrance: replay encounters for cards and Iota

After the plaza chapter the game unlocks Remembrance — “repeatable encounters played from Music Play.” Each Remembrance lists its Iota tracks and Trait drops, and replaying them is the game’s farming loop: stockpile crafting resources instead of waiting on story drops.

  2. 11

Characters, timelines and what they change

Progressing the story adds playable girls — May joins almost immediately, and reading a character’s timeline (Iris’s unlocks mid-Act 1) makes her selectable in the hub. Each girl brings her own Spectral Skills, and those skills reach into crafting and encounters, so a new character is a new toolkit, not a new skin.

Unlock FAQ

How many songs do you start with in In Falsus?

Nine: à la mode, Be There, Cryogenic, Cyaegha, Forbidden Souls, Ghost Ray, Hyaloüyne, MIRINAE and Ordirehv. The song select even counts them for you — “Unlocked in Scenario 0/9.”

How do you unlock songs in In Falsus?

Through the story. Reading Scenario Timeline entries drives the plot, and at key beats a dive turns the scene into an encounter — clearing that encounter adds its song to your list permanently.

How do you unlock the FORBIDDEN (FBD) difficulty?

By building mastery across songs. The gate notice reads “The knowledge of FORBIDDEN difficulty eludes you” — clear charts across the roster, and FORBIDDEN appears above ULT with its own level ladder (the launch charts top out at FBD 11).

Does the scenario-or-challenge choice affect unlocks?

No. The opening prompt says it only affects the initial Rhythm Game tutorial and does not limit your game experience — the unlock schedule is identical either way.
