Does In Falsus Support a Controller? (Answer: No)

In Falsus has no controller support on Steam — no Xbox, PS, Switch or Steam Deck mapping. Keyboard + mouse only. Controls setup, Switch version status and comfortable keybind tips.

No — In Falsus does not support controllers. The Steam page lists no controller support of any kind (not even "partial"), and nothing in the demo settings maps inputs to a gamepad. This isn't an oversight lowiro will patch away: the game's signature control scheme is keyboard + mouse.

Why a controller can't work here

In Falsus splits its playfield into two layers with fundamentally different input needs:

  • Floor notes use six keys under one hand — Tap and Hold notes across 6 lanes. A controller has enough buttons for this part, in theory.
  • Field and Flick notes are the dealbreaker. Field notes require keeping a cursor inside a continuously moving region, and Flicks need quick directional mouse swipes. That's pointer input, not analog-stick input — a stick's fixed maximum speed and centering spring make smooth region-tracking effectively impossible.

lowiro markets the mouse layer as the core novelty of the game ("a signature control system of mouse and keyboard"), so official gamepad support would mean redesigning the charts themselves.

Is there a Switch or mobile version?

No. In Falsus is Windows-only — Steam lists no macOS, Linux, Switch or mobile release, and none has been announced. Searches for "in falsus switch" trace back to lowiro's history as the Arcaea mobile developer, but this project is explicitly a PC title. If that changes at or after the September 9, 2026 launch, this page will be updated.

Making keyboard + mouse comfortable instead

If you came looking for controller support because the default controls feel bad, the fix is configuration, not hardware:

  1. Rebind the six Floor keys. The default LShift / A / S / D / F / Space layout is the single biggest source of discomfort. Move the row until your hand rests naturally.
  2. Lower your mouse sensitivity slightly. Field tracking rewards small, precise movements; twitchy FPS-level sensitivity fights you.
  3. Give the mouse hand room. Flicks are short horizontal swipes — a cramped quarter of the desk causes overshoots into the red lockout state.
  4. Start on MIN difficulty. Four static keys let you build the mouse skills without keyboard pressure.

Comfortable alternatives (no controller)

The game won't bind mouse buttons to lanes in the demo. Community workarounds players use instead:

  • Rebind keys in Settings until the six-lane row fits your hand — still the best official fix
  • In Falsus Mouse Layout Tool — AutoHotkey v2 script mapping side buttons to keys (Windows only)
  • Steam Input community configs on Deck — map bumpers/triggers to lanes and gyro to cursor (SteamInputDB); see the Steam Deck guide

These are player-built helpers, not official support. lowiro may change input rules at full release.

Community workarounds: touch tool & custom controllers

Since the demo launched, players have gone further than key remapping:

  • InFalsusTouchTool (GitHub) — a cross-platform app that turns an Android or iOS device into a remote touch controller for the game. Full setup walkthrough: In Falsus Touch Tool guide
  • Custom SDVX-style controllers — community players have built physical controllers (IIDX-style buttons + a volume-slider knob) and posted FBD clears with them. The game's 6-button + pointer layout invites the Sound Voltex crowd, though the Field layer still needs pointer precision
  • Steam Input configs — shared Deck layouts mapping buttons to lanes and gyro to cursor (SteamInputDB)

None of these are official; they exist because the game's hybrid scheme attracts tinkerers. If lowiro ever ships first-party input options, this page will note it.

The full input breakdown — every note type, lane counts per difficulty, and a practice order — is in the controls guide. New to the game? Read beginner tips next. If the game won't even show a picture on launch, see the black screen fixes first. Test Encounter loadouts in the Loadout Simulator.

FAQ

Will controller support be added later? Nothing is announced, and the chart design (continuous mouse regions + directional flicks) makes it unlikely. Treat keyboard + mouse as permanent.

Does it work on Steam Deck? Not with official gamepad support. The demo runs unofficially via GE-Proton with keyboard + touchpad or USB mouse for Field notes. Read the full Steam Deck guide for Proton versions and community gyro layouts.

Can I use an Xbox or PlayStation pad anyway? The game does not read them. Rebind keys in settings and use the mouse for Field/Flick — that's the intended path.
