Is In Falsus worth it? We won't pretend to review a game five weeks before it launches — but the free demo already answers several of the questions a launch review must answer. This is our structured preview: what the demo proves, what remains open, and what our full review (published launch week, September 9, 2026) will cover.
What the demo already proves
1. The control scheme is genuinely novel. Six Floor keys under one hand plus a mouse cursor for FIELD and FLICK notes is unlike any mainstream rhythm game. It feels awkward for exactly one session — then it clicks. No other PC rhythm game asks your hands to do this.
2. The card loop has real depth. Iota drops, hexagonal Blueprints, penalty math (one mistake costs 11% of your card's stats) and Trait selection create actual build decisions, not busywork. The demo's systems match what the full game describes.
3. Production values are high. Full Japanese voice acting, Camellia / ak+q / Feryquitous-tier music, and a story framed with genuine ambition. lowiro's Arcaea track record backs the craft.
4. Performance bar is low. No CPU/GPU requirement on Steam — a 2D game that runs on almost anything (system requirements).
What remains open until launch
- Song library: 70+ songs (40+ originals) claimed — the demo's five can't show the full range
- Story delivery: how five protagonist perspectives play across a full campaign
- Difficulty ceiling: FBD charts in the demo hint at brutal endgame content
- Price: still unannounced — worth-it is partly a function of cost; see release date & price status
Who should buy it (preliminary)
| Player type | Preliminary take |
|---|---|
| Rhythm veterans (SDVX/beatmania/Arcaea) | Strong yes — the scheme is a fresh challenge |
| Visual-novel readers | Likely yes — story is first-class, fully voiced |
| Casual players | Play the free demo first — the mouse layer is a real skill check |
| Card/build-crafting fans | Yes — the integration loop is the most novel crafting in a rhythm game |
